Space Needle
Renovation Signage

Construction signage that kept a landmark open, and fun, while it was rebuilt around its visitors.

The challenge:

The Space Needle stayed open while crews rebuilt it. The construction zone had to tell people the Needle was open, point them to what they could still see and do, and turn scaffolding into something worth a photo instead of something to avoid.

The approach:

A retro space age illustration style that fits the Needle's history, with characters, rockets and bright color. Long banner wraps for the tower, and plain spoken wayfinding so nobody got lost on a construction site. Every piece says the same thing in a different way. We're open, and it's worth the trip up.

The outcome:

The Needle stayed open through the work, and the construction zone became part of the visit instead of an eyesore.

Scaffolding is a billboard. We treated it like one.
